Encoded Survey Links

When dealing with sensitive data in your survey URL parameters (such as user IDs, phone numbers, email addresses, or segments), it's crucial to ensure that this information is protected.

One effective method is to generate encoded versions of these URLs. Encoded links serve two main purposes:

  1. Data Protection: They prevent sensitive information from being exposed to unauthorized individuals.
  2. Data Integrity: They make it difficult for respondents to manipulate the URL parameters by altering values, thus ensuring the integrity of the survey data.

In  Zurvey.io, you can easily encode your survey links to safeguard sensitive information while still enabling the system to decode and process these parameters correctly for segmenting or identifying respondents.

  1. To access the feature, navigate to the Publish page. The option to generate encoded links will be available under the survey link, but only if you have already added URL parameters.

  2. Start by downloading the provided template, which comes in the form of an Excel file. This template will already include your URL parameters.

  3. Populate the Excel file with the appropriate values for each URL parameter and upload it back to Zurvey.io. Make sure your URL parameter columns are filled out with the matching data. You can check this in the preview step before uploading.

  4. Finally, just download the encoded links that have been generated.

Following the example above, if the filler receives the fourth generated link and proceeds to fill out the survey, the export and the dashboard will show ‘adwords’ for the source parameter, ‘4d’ for the id parameter, and ‘tolna’ for the region parameter.
