Deep diving into the online perception of air travel

Posted on 1 min.

On occasion of this year's Travel & Smart Cities Expo in Vienna - organized by the innovation and startup accelerator Plug and Play -, we entered a collaboration with ZYTLYN and Plug and Play to create an ebook on the changing perception of air travel. You can read the material now if you want to know how air travel trends in the DACH region changed from before the pandemic struck to now.

It is easy to guess that travel restrictions and quarantines had a strong effect on the willingness to travel, but how did that exactly happen, and what did it all look like reflected in the news and social media? In the ebook, we looked into the whole story: how much people empathized with airlines during the hard times, how quickly (or slowly) they bounced back after opening up, and whether business travel and traveling to go on a holiday showed different trends.

Mentions were collected from the beginning of 2020 to the end of July this year, so you can see the trends as they come full circle, before and after vaccines became available.  Do you think people talked more about travel before the pandemic hit than they do now? What did they say about different destinations? Find out about all of this and more in the ebook below.
