Perhaps there are no crazed customers treading on top of each other to grab TV sets at half price anymore, but Black Friday is still very popular across the world in 2021. However, eco-conscious voices have been becoming louder for the past few years, drawing attention to the unsustainable amount of unnecessary consumption, and urging everyone to think twice about whether they actually need that thing that they are about to drop into their carts at 30% off.

 

Challenge

To evaluate the popularity of Black versus Green Friday, we collected public mentions of both on Germany’s web throughout the month of November. The results are in: let’s see how much people talked about them and what they thought!
